Why are companies running from pillar to post to migrate from FoxPro?

Though, once helmed as a dynamic development platform used for many difficult and note worthy applications FoxPro is now almost lost into oblivion. It’s time to welcome the modern applications that are compatible with web and mobile. It is time to adopt the new age technology with a wide array of applications. With an immense technological growth, the old software are finding it difficult to maintain a strong foothold. Similarly companies that have depended on such software are also facing a lot of trouble. Companies which rely on FoxPro have no other option but to migrate to other stable and modern platform.

Companies are left with no other option but to migrate. As FoxPro has been termed as “end-of-life”, after Microsoft had withdrawn providing its support. There have been a lot of concerns that companies using FoxPro based applications have been facing, some common issues like it running on only one operating system, the FoxPro database is hard to secure, it has a limit of 2 GB, and there is a requirement to use only large databases like SQL server definitely have been a reason of trouble. FoxPro also lacks security, data privacy, performance, robustness, data regulatory requirements which makes the FoxPro applications obsolete. With Microsoft not extending its support for FoxPro there are no available update patches available for FoxPro too, this makes it all the more vulnerable to security , stability or update. It is a task for businesses if they have to keep a pool of IT engineers to take care of obsolete software, wouldn’t it be better if the same pool is dedicated for a modern technology? That would do better to the employees as well as for the organization.

Having sighted the prominent issues concerning FoxPro it is imperative that businesses are hell bent to migrate from FoxPro.
